Jered Barker

Bio

Jered Barker is entering his fourth season at Union and his 14th year coaching, serving as the JV Head Coach. A Vancouver native and University of Oregon graduate, Jered was an all-league defensive back in high school and set a single-season school record with nine interceptions. His coaching career has included Pacific Middle School, Mountain View High School, and Union.

For Jered, coaching is about connection and putting players first. He wants athletes to know he cares about them beyond football and values a willingness to fail, believing growth often starts with being brave enough to try. His high school coach, Coach Mathison, had a major influence on that philosophy and taught him that coaching is ultimately about the kids.

Away from football, Jered enjoys spending time with his wife McKenzie, daughters Daisy and Autumn, and their dog Boba. On game day, one tradition matters most: finding his wife and daughters for a hug and kiss before kickoff.
