Rodney Lawrence

Bio

Rodney Lawrence is entering his second season with Union and brings 20 years of coaching experience across football, track and field, and speed and agility training. A Fairfield, California native, Rodney played four years of varsity football at running back and was also a California state track finalist in the 200 and 400 relay. His coaching background includes working with running backs, wide receivers, defensive backs, and offensive coordination, along with multiple track and field events.

For Rodney, coaching is about helping boys grow into successful young men. He values effort and believes hard work always gives athletes a chance to succeed. His own high school coach, Ron Bevely, had a major influence on the way he approaches coaching today.

Away from football, Rodney enjoys spending time with family and friends. He’s been married for 22 years, has four children and two dogs, and spent much of his childhood living outside the United States as part of a military family. One of his favorite football memories is coaching in the 2004 WIAA state championship game with Evergreen High School.
