Russell Massey

Bio

Russell Massey is entering his first season at Union as the JV2 Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, also working with the tight ends and defensive backs. A Vancouver native and Evergreen High School graduate, Russell was a three-year varsity football letterman and later earned his associate degree from Clark College. Before joining Union, he spent seven years as a youth head coach with CCYF.

For Russell, coaching is about being part of a player’s growth, both personally and athletically. He believes effort and attitude matter just as much as talent and wants his players to understand the value of showing up, working hard, and giving their best. His own coaches, including Phillip Walden and Jon Eagle, helped shape the lessons he now hopes to pass on.

Away from football, Russell enjoys spending time with his wife Katie and their sons, Brody and Cooper, whether they’re watching football, catching up on shows, or playing games together. One of his favorite football memories is watching Brody score his first tackle-football touchdown in fifth grade, followed immediately by a penalty for doing the Griddy in the end zone.
