Tyler Peterson

Bio

Tyler Peterson joins Union for his first season as the Varsity Wide Receivers Coach and Special Teams Coordinator, bringing four years of coaching experience that includes stops at Washington State University and Hampden-Sydney College. A Battle Ground native and Hockinson graduate, Tyler took an unconventional path into football, having never played a down himself. Instead, his background as an All-American collegiate decathlete helped shape the competitiveness and work ethic he brings to coaching.

Tyler credits Coach Nick Edwards, his mentor at WSU, as a major influence on his coaching style. What he enjoys most is staying connected to the competitive side of the game while helping players learn to love football, work when it’s time to work, and still enjoy the experience. His favorite football memory is the 2024 Apple Cup, when WSU beat Washington 24–19 at Lumen Field with a goal-line stand.

Away from the field, Tyler is one of four siblings and has a dog named Vault. His game-day tradition? Before warmups, he grabs a football and plays catch with fans around the stadium.
